Baked squash

One Acorn squash with the very tip **cut off (so it will sit nicely)
**Stem cut off
**cut in half length wise. (You can do it the other way, I just like it “sideways”)
remove seeds

1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. maple syrup
pinch of salt and pepper

Bake at 400 for one and a half hours. Even better if you do it for two

Just like the potatoes gratin, I often start this in the microwave. If you use this method:
When it is cut in half turn it upside down in your pan and add 1/4 cup water
cover with saran and cook in microwave for 10 minutes

Remove saran
empty water from dish
turn squash over
add filling

bake for 1 hour but it doesn’t hurt do do it a bit longer. (Remember if you don’t start it in the microwave it will need an hour and a half to two hours in the oven)
It is cooked when a fork pierces easily and the flesh is very soft.

Enjoy one of my favorites

**PAM’S TIP
Remember that you cannot work efficiently in the kitchen without sharp knives.
